Abstract
New traction base fluids were developped through a great deal of molecular designs based on molecular mechanics and synthetic experiments. Those base fluids were desiged to overcome the trade-off relation between low temperature fluidity and coefficient of traction at high temperature. New traction fluids are multipurpose lubricants which enable other mechanical elements to lubricate with additives for various properties required. Practical performances of new traction fluid were confirmed by long-durability bcnch test with the Half-Toroidal CVT installed with large displacement engine.
