Abstract

The Push/Pull Belt requires a high and constant friction coefficient at the interface between the Push Belt and the pulleys. At the other interfaces, between the Push Belt and the Pull Belt and between the consecutive rings of the composed Pull Belt, friction should be as low as possible. In this paper, we analyse these requirements, and try to formulate technical solutions to control the friction at the various interfaces. The resulting ?Bearing Belts" promise to be of use for efficient, high performance Continuously Variable Transmissions.
