Abstract

In this paper, the development status of electronically controlled CVT system equipped with manual tip shifting with fixed and stepped gear ratios which is called CVTip is treated. Based on the investigation on scheme of the pulley ratio control under the several vehicle conditions, we chose the system which can directly control both the pressures of primary and secondary pulleys. Controlling the pressures, the two linear-solenoid-valves are used to realize the direct pressure control and to make it possible simplifying the whole hydraulic circuit. The new developed electronically controlled CVT improved not only the fuel consumption but also the vehicle performance. Besides, CVTip, by which the function of 6-speed manual shift was installed to the system, could provide both easy and smooth driving at CVT mode and fun to maneuver the shift change at CVTip mode.
