Abstract
The paper briefly presents research work undertaken in INAR for improving acoustical behaviour of several diesel engine mufflers. The aim was to ensure a very low noise level of diesel engines, power-train systems and trucks in order to meet the requirements imposed by European Regulation no.51 (ECE-ONU). The final part of the paper includes technical considerations about design procedures and noise measurement on the test bench.
