Abstract

Based on the turbulent diffusion flame model, a multizone onedimensional model of the combustion process in Direct Injection Diesel Engines is established. Heat release rate is determined by mass flow balance in the turbulent diffusion flame. The results agree well with the experimental data obtained in a simulated engine having a large optical access and in an industrial engine.
