Abstract

The design of automotive vehicle structures for improved passenger safety is considered to be the most important in the automotive industry. Vehicle crash is a dynamic phenomenon involving a complex interaction between structural and inertial behaviour. The simulation models used for vehicle crashworthiness consist of a number of lumped masses and springs for component resistances.

Satisfactory declaration results of certain masses can be obtained which are useful for comparing while evaluating various design concepts of the vehicle frontal structure.
