Abstract

The paper aims to present some aspects concerning of the composite materials properties, especially their elastic coefficients, using a non-destructive testing set-up. A description of the experimental configuration that involves the use of a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser as a ultrasonic waves generation source will be given. A theoretical approach of the problem is described in order to understand the elastic coefficients recovering process and some experimental signals will provide the layout from which the programming steps begun. The use of composite materials in automotive industry take advantages from their properties (both mechanical and structural) and lead to light and resisting structures needed in this circumstances.
