Abstract

The paper extends the results of the classical analyses in the oscillation of the steering wheels of cars, on the self-steering axles of high – capacity trucks used in agricultural transports. The paper extension also comprises the introduction of the damping – phenomena into the equation system modelling the phenomenon, the damping of the “shimmy” oscillations in as short a time as possible, being the basic objective of the paper from a technical point of view. Finally, besides the conclusions, some applications in design are given under the form of several diagrams by means of which the oscillation amplitudes can be limited or some rigidities of the elastic elements can be chosen, permitting the avoidance of the resonance phenomenon. The paper extends the results of the classical analyses in the oscillation of the steering wheels of cars, on the self-steering axles of high – capacity trucks used in agricultural transports.
