Abstract

The paper presents a model of calculation of unsteady monodimensional flow in intake pipe and cylinder for an internal combustion engine (ICE). Although the 1D simmulation of thermogasdynamic processes is now a little bit absolete (because of using the 3D simmulation softwares), this model has the ability of modelling the unsteadiness of the intake process, while most FEM software do not posess this ability. Ultimately, this is a simpler model by definition, and does not have the pretention of being the ultimate simmulation technique. It is not. But it tries to solve in a simple and effective manner the 1D equations that modellate the intake air flow process, equations that are not analytically solvable. The air model is considered to be: compressible, inviscid, unsteady, laminar flow.
