Abstract

Compressed natural gas (CNG) is used as a vehicle fuel increasingly seen as a way of reducing the exhaust emissions of the vehicles, particularly in inner cities area. Currently in the world wide used the natural gas vehicles (NGVs) which fuelled with CNG only or gasoline and CNG (hybrid engine). In order to investigate the operating characteristics behaviour and exhaust emissions of the Multipla Fiat, therefore in this paper was studied the emission output and the performance characteristics of the vehicle “Multiplla Fiat” which operates only with CNG fuel. The external performance of this vehicle was determined with the simulation code model and empirical by operating the vehicle on the chassis dynamometer to determine the power at the drive wheel and the traction force and also the exhaust pollutants of the vehicle was measured during the test. The results of this research showed the similarity between the experimental and the theoretical study by using simulation code model.
