Abstract - Based on the compulsory need to equip all cars with xenon technology headlights with an automated cleaning system for the glass of the headlights,we have developed an innovated system, which is outstanding mainly because of the following advantages over current conventional systems:

1.Reduction in the consumption of liquid approximately of 50%per washing cycle obtaining the same washing efficiency as conventional systems and so assuring that the homologation norms are met.

2.Significant reduction in the size of all the components in the system and their corresponding weight reduction:Liquid deposit, Headlight pump, telescopic connection and outlet pipes with the effect of having much more freedom when defining the “package ” of the car.

3.Possibility of having incorporated inside the headlight washer pump,an electronic temporiser for the propulsion of liquid to equip only those cars which need this application.

Both the composition as well as the application of the new system for its use as a headlight washer has been patented by FICOSA INTERNATIONAL S.A.,emphasising especially the substitution of the conventional pump and the reduction in the consumption of liquid generated by this system in combination with the fixed and telescopic outlets developed for this application.

“This innovation allows us to offer our customers an alternative system which is 100% comparable with the technological and quality demands of conventional systems.

Because of our capacity to develop and manufacture the complete system from the motor of the pump to the outlets,we can assure full service to our customers for the implementation of the new system. As well as having achieved an important reduction in the space necessary for packaging,we are convinced that this system means a possible reduction in costs of up to and even over 20%approximately compared with conventional systems, something which is not easy to achieve in a system inside the car at present.
