Abstract

Keywords - CV Joint, Contact Force, Multibody Dynamics, Axial Force, Tripod Joint.

Absract - Generally, the axial force of a CV joint is related to various design parameters, such as the material, size and shape of the parts, clearance between the parts, etc. These relationships can be shown by tests. But this is very expensive and requires long testing time, because there are lots of design parameters.

Recently, the multibody dynamics using contact model is being widely used to design the constrained mechanical system such as bearing, gear, chain, track, etc. more precisely.

In this paper, the process of the dynamic analysis of a CV joint is presented by using a computer model. A multibody dynamic analysis program is used to model a CV joint. Specifically, the contact between parts is modelled by using a mathematical contact force model. The purpose of the mathematical model is to compute all the constrained forces. The axial force is predicted by these constrained forces. The design parameters affecting the axial force are proposed. The proposed method to predict the axial force and design parameters can be used to determine the design parameters.

The proposed procedure to predict the axial force using a contact force model is applicable to various CV joints.
