Abstract

Abstract:

The basic mechanical construction of the devices and the method to prepare the ice surface in laboratory conditions are shortly presented, the results from different test series and the correlation between field and laboratory tests are discussed.

The results obtained with mini-ì-road and LONTRA can be used for example in basic research work, comparing different rubber compounds/surfaces/tyres or analysing conditions effect on friction. Both introduced devices are more efficient than measuring tyre properties with a car - friction tests with mini-ì-road and LONTRA are faster, easier and cheaper. Correlation between laboratory tests (mini-ì-road) and field tests (LONTRA) has proved to exist.
