Abstract - In this paper, we present a path generation method and a position detection method using RF-ID (Radio Frequency Identification) chip array for the backward automatic driving in a parking system. As is well known, RF-ID is one of automatic identification technologies like a bar-code. RF-ID tag is made up by RF-ID chip and antenna, and can be stored absolute position information. In order to use RFID for a fixed position sensor, RF-ID chip array is setting on the ground like grid pattern. At first, the effectiveness of the method based on Ackermann´s steering geometry is shown by the comparison with the feedback control method using the time-state control form, for a path generation in automatic parking system. The detection accuracy of sensors has an important role in the presented parking system.

Secondly, the detection accuracy of location information obtained by RF-ID chip is discussed. Finally, in order to realize the automatic parking system, a method for assignment of detection antennas on an automobile and a RF-ID chip array assignment method are presented.
