Abstract
Since 2 years, Renault works on the standardisation of 1394b for automotive application. 1394 network allows to transport audio, video and command data on a single interface. This reduce drastically the cost of the wire harness and improve the audio-video signal quality; without EMI issues. Audio-video sources can then be shared between all passengers. Video data can be transported digitally through the network without compression.
Adaptation of a consumers network to the automotive world opens the door to a direct connection of portable device (Game console, MP3 player,...).
