Abstract - We have developed an advanced wheel speed sensor, which can detect extremely low speed and the rotating direction of each wheel. By applying this sensor, we developed the new function of brake control. One is Downhill Assist Control (DAC) which controls the vehicle at constant low speed while driving downhill on a steep slope, and the other is Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) which reduces the unintended backward movement of a vehicle when starting uphill.
