Abstract - The paper presents two active suspensions systems devoted to improve both handling and comfort. Virtual experimentation was applied to investigate dynamic performance obtainable through an air springs suspension and an Active Roll Control (ARC) system, based on a variable pre-charge of the torsion springs. The ARC determines a better handling performance than the air spring suspension mainly due to a much faster actuation. Integration with Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) was investigated to optimise vehicle safety considering the described chassis control systems. A test bench designed to test the ARC system is described.
