Abstract: A simulation model for the powertrain system of an electric-assisted parallel HEV equipped with CVT has been developed in this paper with a specific power control strategy, which is a parametric analysis of the power control schemes and vehicle performance. The paper mainly deals with the establishment of the theoretical model of system and some considerations about dynamic and economical performance of the HEV with CVT. An advanced control method in application of automotive velocity, fuzzy logic controller (FLC), has been implemented and used to control the automotive velocity. Simulation results show that current configuration of the simulation model has superb capability for the automotive while meeting the velocity demand in the given driving schedules, and the fuzzy control is well suited for automotive velocity control. These demonstrate the validity and feasibility of the simulation model and power control strategy.
