Abstract

In this research, we propose a new body solution named SIMBA (Smart and Intelligent Modular Body Architecture). It makes that the vehicle being more flexible with high function and low cost. We have proposed the new body structure named CBF for the electric vehicle. In addition, the “movement & shell” concept were constructed on the basis of CBF. But, there is a decisive problem in this structure. EV (include FCEV) and ITS technologies evolve with "dog year". Therefore, portion of the movement flexibility is most important thing that make update possible. But the movement is the closed and completed system. As for this structure, update of the part is difficult. Then, we devised more flexible Body Solution Concept named SIMBA (Smart and Intelligent Modular

Body Architecture). The first feature of SIMBA is the modularity. All components are modularized truly by the open architecture. Every running component is split into the “power drive module” and “energy supply module”. Module integration rules are specified by express statement. The casing of these modules utilize as floor frame structure. Second feature of SIMBA is the software oriented vehicle system. The vehicle system has been formed with hardware, OS and application. Hardware components are connected with LAN and these are controlled by Real Time OS and application software. SIMBA is still phase of concept. Now, we are preparing in order to be applied to our next generation electric vehicle.
