Abstract

During the development stage of chassises for commercial vehicles attention must be paid to payload protection and in the case of heavy duty commercial vehicles to road surface input stresses. To ascertain, if air springs with natural damping have the potential to reduce the well known development conflict between the quantities "vertical body acceleration" and "fluctuation of wheel loads" tests on a special mobile quarter-vehicle test stand were carried out. Results obtained on the mobile test stand with an adjustable hydraulic damper set up the reference necessary for comparisons.
