Abstract
In the stability analysis of motorcycles two dynamic tyre models have been developed. For the assessment of dynamic tyre parameters it is important to use realistic velocities. When describing the measurements with a first order relaxation length model, the optimal parameters are not constant with velocity. A rigid ring model is able to describe the dynamic tyre behaviour using velocity independent parameters. A velocity dependent relaxation length leads to an unstable weave mode in a motorcycle model. The rigid ring model leads to physically consistent results.
