Abstract
Simulink, Stateflow, and Real-Time Workshop (RTW), tightly integrated members of the MathWorks product family, are used to develop an automatic transmission model. Preliminary simulations evaluate high-level conceptual choices, facilitate top-down system definition and generate meaningful design specifications. The control strategy is assembled graphically in Stateflow, while the hydraulic and mechanical designs are modeled in Simulink. Detailed simulations provide design validation and baseline calibration. Control algorithm code is auto-generated by RTW for hardware prototypes.
