Abstract

The paper describes problems associated with vehicle lateral control for automated highway systems (AHS). While AHS is explicitly mentioned and some aspects are uniquely for AHS, a large part of the dynamic modeling, sensing problem and controller design for lateral control may be applied to other situations including driver assistance and safety enhancement of vehicles on non-automated highways.
