Abstract

In order to reduce the number of traffic accidents, analysis of the performance of the system comprising drivers, vehicles and road environment to develop a comprehensive solution. A recent investigation revealed that there is a substantiated need for the development of micro-simulation system designed for the traffic safety assessment. This paper describes the development of a road traffic simulation system used "nanoscpoic-model" of driver behaviour and the integrated analysis-evaluation system designed for traffic safety assessment. The primary focus is on estimation of the effects of advanced driver assistance system on reduction ratio of traffic accidents. As an example of the application of the traffic simulation system to driver assistance systems, the evaluation results of an advanced steering system are presented.
