Abstract

Steering system is one of the most important interfaces between a driver and a vehicle. Moreover, steering reaction torque is one of the most important types of information for drivers since it has significant influence on vehicle manoeuvrability. Even with today´s advanced simulation technology, however, it is very difficult to accurately simulate steering feeling. Therefore, that steering feeling is usually examined by actual vehicle testing. The purpose of this study is to develop a steering simulation system that can evaluate the closedloop control system between a driver and a vehicle as if a test driver was in an actual vehicle. In this paper, the strategy that simulate the closed loop system between a driver and a vehicle, in addition to the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulator that can quantitatively evaluate steering systems.
