Abstract
In the near future, demand for a new type of mobility that enables seamless movement between one´s indoor environment and the outdoors will increase. The Partner Robot Development Division launched development of a mountable, walking robot to provide for this need. This robot was presented at the 2005 World Exposition as one type of future mobility. This article will discuss points including the concept for the developed mountable, walking robot, the safety conscious design and walking control, and will show how a person actually mounts and walks.
