Abstract

Planet Earth is irreplaceable, and its future survival depends on mankind´s development of measures to prevent global warming. The automobile industry bears a large social responsibility for this problem as a manufacturer of vehicles that generate CO2, one of the gases contributing to the greenhouse effect. Toyota regards hybrid vehicles(HVs), which make effective use of the Earth´s limited resources, as a crucial weapon in the fight to reduce CO2. Toyota has launched several models throughout the world, including the Prius. Although powered by a new system that combines a normal engine with motors, HVs must be as reliable as conventional vehicles. This article uses the connection portions of the HV inverter used for motor control as an example to describe the technologies applied at the HV development stage for guaranteeing quality.
