Abstract

The authors have developed a new telemeter with smaller size and higher resolution. This telemeter system has an advantage that is, its signal processing method in which the sensor outputs; temperature, strain and distance are directly converted to digital signals without conventional amplifiers and A/D converters. This digital telemeter enables long hours measurement at high engine speed above 6000r/min in small gasoline engines because of its compactness and light weight, including self-contained power generator. We introduce this application to measurements of piston strain, cylinder bore distortion and piston ring behavior.
