Abstract
In recent years, paintings that are felt soft when touching interior parts are often adopted for European automobiles to improve the quality value of the automobile interior. Toyota established the world's first quantitative evaluation methods for touch-feel of painting and "soft and moist" touch-feel that many users like. With these results, we developed the paint with good touch-feel (Toyota Touch-Feel Paint) and put it into practical use.
This time, as a result of further improvement of this unique technology, a paint with the world best touch-feel (Super Touch-Feel Paint) was developed to make users feel a quality vehicle by soft and moist touch-feel of genuine leather and chamois leather. The Super Touch-Feel Paint consists of two layers: "Softening primer" that pursues soft finish and "moisturizing top coat" that pursues moist finish.
To make painting touch softer by the conventional technology, painting must be thick since it utilizes the vertical movement. The softening primer was developed in a different point of view from the conventional one to make painting softer with a thinner layer.
About the moisturizing top coat, the painting surface was improved in quality since the surface composition of painting is closely related to sense of moisture.
Combination of softening primer and moisturizing top coat achieved the aim of touch-feel. Since it also allows various control of sense of softness and moisture, user-preferable good touch-feel can be provided.
