Abstract
The dynamic characteristic of vehicle body structure is an important factor that
determines the driving quality. It plays a critical role in body in white because it is relevant to
driveability, ride comfort, NVH, crash safety, and strength reliability. It is a great challenge to
achieve mass reduction goals, while simultaneously meeting all body requirements. This
paper describes the procedure to balance mass, dynamic performance and critical
requirements concurrently, by using an optimization technology known as topology analysis.
