Abstract

In Thailand where a market is in very active, authors have conducted a listening test on motorcycle users using some gear slapping noises with high contribution to the tone of idling noise. Retail prices of test motorcycles were presented to users before the listening test. The test included several kinds of sound which had several kinds of level and frequency.

As a result, it has been confirmed that evaluation of motorcycle engine noise during
development is enough correct. Also, although the gear slapping noise of the same level, the
higher the frequency was, the lower the evaluation was, and a lower retail price motorcycle
was evaluated with lower score than that of a higher retail price one although the same sound
level.
