This paper describes the main characteristics of the new 2.2 litre HDI/TDCI engine that PSA Peugeot Citroën and Ford Motor Company have jointly developed within the frame of their Diesel Cooperation. This premium Euro IV engine has been designed to set the new market standard in 4-cylinder Diesels and will equip the upper mid-range and executive cars of the 2 companies. Paragraph 2 goes though some of the major technical advances fitted on this 2.2 l HDI/TDCI engine. Paragraph 3 reviews the remarkable results obtained in the fields of fuel economy, emissions reduction, ride capacity and silence. Paragraphs 4, 5 and 6 provide an overview of the Program management, industrial and financial aspects.
