Abstract:
Stringent emission standards as well as increased public awareness on low emission vehicles are leading to complex aftertreatment systems, especially for Diesel engines. The integration of this aftertreatment components in the exhaust system has to take into account the different requirements, especially the temperature level required for such systems. To face requirements like Light off behavior of the catalyst, high temperature limitation, maximum underhood temperature or Diesel particulate filter regeneration events several technical solutions are developed. Insulation concepts, geometrical and fluid dynamics optimization are presented, as well as the simulation tools required to design such Exhaust systems.
