As a leader in pyrotechnic initiation field applied to Automotive Safety (more than 250 million parts delivered), DAVEY BICKFORD was the first manufacturer to propose and start production of an all plastic technology initiator able to challenge the traditional glass to metal seal technology initiators. With a significant mass production background (first product applications launched in 1999), the corresponding initiators, as named as PTMS® initiators (plastic to metal seal) are now being recognized and called in reference on the Automotive Safety Market. After a brief comparison between existing technologies of pyrotechnic actuators used in Automotive Safety Applications, this presentation focuses on the advantages of plastic technology. More precisely, we introduce the unlimited field of evolutions made possible with this technology, thus making the PTMS® range of initiators the best reply to all challenges of the Automotive Safety market.
