Abstract
In the past decade, the development of new transmission concepts has played an important role in the global effort to reduce emissions, reduce fuel consumption and improve vehicle driveability. These new developments are supported by innovation in the transmission control system. This presentation will discuss the evolution of transmission controls into mechatronic systems. The Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) mechatronic system will be presented in detail. We will highlight the main design and development issues that were encountered and how they were resolved to successfully integrate this new type of mechatronic into the DCT transmission.
