Abstract

Quantification solutions that improve traffic in large urban areas, requires, especially in the European Union and the United States and analyzes / assessments in light of costs (direct, generated by the fuel consumption and indirect, related to the specific levels of pollution).

Implementing solutions for organizing road is a measure of cost, for intersections where problems occur breakneck capacity (especially during peak hours).

In this paper we present the results obtained in this direction, in terms of organizing traffic junctions in the city of Craiova, given that one of the major demands of local authorities and/or national level is the identification of congestion costs and performance signaling vertical and horizontal intersections. Estimated operating costs considered were direct vehicle operating costs (fuel costs and driving additional cost factor, lubricants, maintenance operations etc.) and time cost for road users (drivers, passengers and pedestrians)

The operating cost was adapted to local conditions and calibration parameters such as unit cost, fuel cost, running cost factor rate of fuel price increase, the average wage, the time factor, the degree average occupancy (person / vehicles), table light vehicles, and heavy vehicle mass and mass of heavy vehicles with engine capacity. Keywords: traffic, operating costs, intersections
