Abstract

The use of hydrogen as addition with gasoline at the spark ignition engines represents a viable solution for improving of the energetically and emissions performance. The paper presents some aspects of using hydrogen as addition with the gasoline to an automotive spark ignition engine. . The paper experimentally investigated the effect of hydrogen addition on the performance of a gasoline engine while studying parameters like effective power, BSFC and emissions (NOx, HC, CO2). Engine tests were conducted at 3500 rpm and different excess air ratios. Various hydrogen flow rates between 0 - 20 % were injected in the engine cylinder, trying to highlight the influences of the hydrogen addition.
