Abstract
The paper presents an analysis of the constructive solutions for diesel particulate filters (DPF) which form a depolluting system specific to middle class cars. It is also shown an analysis of the DPF regeneration methods and the solutions for implementation on cars. There are also presented the results of the research concerning the pressure drops value limits in the case of a new DPF and another one subjected to repeated regenerations. Moreover, are analyzed the possibilities of depollution for diesel engines using SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction). Likewise, are represented the main methods of reducing the oxides of nitrogen using EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) and the implementation of SCR technology. The paper details the elements of the after-treatment system for exhaust gases and the chemical mechanisms for the reduction of NOx, reaction based on an agent composed by water and urea called AdBlue. They are also approached the perspectives of the extension of SCR technology.
