Abstract

In the paper it is presented a study of the experimental researches about the influence of the road traffic composition and of the meteorological conditions over the chemical pollution in urban areas. There were studied several intersections of the Brasov City, at different time intervals according with the current Environmental legislation from the European Union. After analyzing the traffic measurements´ results, it were estimated as rush hours: the time interval 8.00-9.00 (the morning rush hour) and the time interval 15.00-16.00 (the evening rush hour). The measurements of the pollutant emissions specific to the zone studied were realized with the portable gas detector MX21 OLDHAM. After analyzing the results, it were recorded different levels of chemical pollution for the two time intervals. It was analyzed the concentration variation of six chemical pollutants (NO [ppm], CO [ppm], VOC [ppm], NO2 [ppm], H2S [ppm], O3 [ppm]), specific to the areas near the road´ infrastructure for the two time intervals when the measurements were made. The study was realized taking into account the pollutants mentioned in the Environmental legislation from the European Union and the conditions of the World Health Organization (W.H.O.).
