Abstract
Romania will become a member of the EU in 2007 or, in the worst case scenario, at the beginning of 2008. This is a good moment to evaluate what is the current situation in different fields of the social and economic life of the country. Road safety is one of the issues which have to be assessed. In the paper the authors tried to present a snapshot of the current situation and an overview of the main policy and management problems related to road safety in Romania in the last decade. They tried to synthesize what are the succeses and what are the problems which were not solved or addressed properly.
