Abstract

The use of alcohols, especially ethanol, as alternative fuels for internal combustion engines represents a present preoccupation due to the inexhaustible sources of production and also to the improvement of the energetically and polluting performances. The paper presents some aspects of a SI engine running when ethanol is used as in addition to gasoline at different proportions. There are relieved better performances of the ethanol - gasoline mixtures fuelled engine compared to only gasoline fuelled engine.

Keywords: gasoline-ethanol blends, homogenous mixtures, lean mixture, combustion
