Abstract

Abstract

Driving wheels of the means of transportation not only carry the construction, but also generate necessary pulling forces enabling spinning of the wheels, in interaction with the surface. A lot of factors influence the fulfilment of these requests, whereof the most essential are mechanical and physical features of the surfaces as well as characteristics of the wheels. Each condition of movement has its own characteristics of generation of active and passive forces of wheel-surface interacton. These characteristics considerably influence also the generation of noise of rolling of the wheels. To a certain degree, the noise is transmitted to the construction, too, and thus to the space for passengers and operators. Partly it is absorbed by the surface and mostly emitted to the environment. This work deals with the possibilities of movement of various types of wheels on surfaces of different characteristics, with particular reference to rail vehicles.

Keywords: noise, rolling, surface, rail vehicles, wheels .
