Abstract

Abstract

The subject of this paper is to optimise the dynamic performance of a fixed tank biaxial vehicle, with respect to its vertical and lateral performance. For the vertical description of the fixed-tank vehicle, a linear fullcar model with ten degrees of freedom is used, while its lateral description is determined according to international regulations. All the involved design parameters, such as suspension characteristics and tank's supports, are included in the optimisation process, so that both the vertical and the lateral acceleration of vehicle's centre of mass are optimised. For the simulation tasks two distinct cases of road profiles are considered, while the optimisation procedure is carried out using Complex and BFGS methods.

Keywords: fixed-tank vehicles, vertical dynamics, lateral dynamics, optimisation, ECE R111.
