Abstract

Abstract

This paper presents a method for using fuzzy functions systems in order to research the improvement potential of the automobile Diesel engines, in correlation with the adaptation to the travelling conditions, reduction of fuel consumption and the control of noxious gas emissions. We study the influence of the admission / evacuation valves opening / closing times modifications and of their movement laws upon the engine traction performances, the effective specific fuel consumption and the nitric oxides NOx emissions.
