Abstract

Abstract:

The requirement for improving the performance of a high-speed tracked vehicle, whose transmission comprises, in addition to the rest, two planetary gearboxes, lead to the development of an entirely new transmission control system. Functional model of the new control system, based on electro-hydraulic components and electronic control by a controller, has been developed in the Military Technical Institute in Belgrade. The system provides a high degree of automation of this transmission in both the straight line movement of the vehicle and in the process of steering.

The article presents some of the results of investigation of the steering process involving the new control system, named GC TRONIC. The information concerning the components required for realization of the steering process of both the existing and the new control system are presented. The basic hydraulic schemes of both systems are presented and the operating principles described.

Testing of the new control system has been carried out by simulation of the steering process on the corresponding test stand. The article presents, through the corresponding output characteristics, some of the results of this test which are then compared with the results obtained by testing the existing control system.

The analysis of the results of this test showed that the new control system, thanks to the electronic control unit and other components, allowed generation of the required output characteristcs during the steering process and offered the possibility of process optimization.
