Reliability is one of the basic quality characteristics of a tractor gearbox and therefore it should be more researched in both laboratory and exploatation conditions. Usually, simulation of working conditions in exploatation in a laboratory means increasing severity of working conditions in terms of increasing load up to 30% and shortens test time for 20%. Increasing exploatation condition in a laboratory should be realistic, because unreal values may deceive us in terms of wrong conclusion about tested gearbox reliability. In this paper, as example, model and result of the test of gearbox reliability will be presented. This model is based on failure period, by using the results of dynamic durability. Realization of the test needs an adequate methodology which will exactly define working conditions, test and criterion evaluation.Keywords: tractor gearbox, reliability
