Abstract

Keywords: vehicle transmission, clearance, load, mathematical model, simulation model.

The present study aims at analyzing the load of motor vehicle transmission under the existence of a clearance in the interconnections between elements. Clearances (backlashes) appearing in the course of a motor vehicle exploitation are considered to be nonlinearities with a zone of insensibility and linear parts. It is with the appearance of a clearance that the dynamic structure of the system is being changed, thus additional loads on the elements and the system occur. This paper endeavors at presenting a general linear mathematical model of dynamic behavior of the transmission with five masses and elastic interconnections between masses. For simplified models, both linear and nonlinear, with two masses and without damping, derived are expressions for the moments in an elastic connection in transient processes. Impacts of the velocity of increment of the driving moment and elastic connection damping in transient processes have been depicted schematically in the diagrams of transient processes obtained by simulation. Based on the conducted analysis, conclusions have been arrived at concerning the impact of a clearance on dynamic loads of transmission elements.
