ABSTRACT

Improved modern automobiles performances can be obtained by using so-called Automated Mechanical Transmissions, such as Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), Uninterrupted Shift Gearbox (USG), Parallel Shift Gearbox (PSG) and Electrical Shift Gearbox (ESG) etc. For every one of these a different gearshift strategy is required. In addition, many car manufacturers offer different strategies to optimize the comfort and dynamic performances. In this paper, the shifting performances of these transmissions are evaluated using AMESim simulation program (Advanced Modeling Environment for performing Simulations of engineering systems). A number of gear shifting strategies were tested and it is shown the influences of some key parameters.
