Abstract:

Despite intensive research and examination of a multitude of alternative systems we feel the classical piston engine will continue to prevail as the optimum passenger car power plant. Conventional spark ignition (SI) engine operate at a fixed compression ratio which is set low enough to prevent premature ignition of the fuel at high power levels, under fast acceleration, high speed or heavy loads. Weak points of conventional compression ignition (CI) engines are at full load. We have active in the research of a variable compression ratio (VCR) Otto and Diesel cycle and recognize that the fuels may need to be adapted to this new technology in order to release its full potential. We are suggesting the basic fuel should be the bearer of the environmental and energetic attributes and at the same time, the additives should correct the items of the engine fuel, cetane and octane numbers. In accordance with the desired “engines fuel items” we have the environment for the rational consumption of the additives. Under such condition we have the opportunities for the better global environmental in which we are in position to use the more efficient transport vehicles on the whole. This paper proposes to comment of the skilled VCR Otto or VCR Diesel engines in terms of fuel requirements. Such engine construction works by principles of Otto or Diesel cycles depending on the available fuel type. It is most important to fulfill the primary tasks, and that is that the work is economized and better even according to the ecological criteria of the classical engine solutions.
