Abstract

Reducing fuel consumption, pollutant emission and CO2 emission is one of the major goals of development activities in automotive industry. Key challenges within the road transport sector are to meet 2005/2008 engine emission limits. Fuel quality has been a focus over the last decade as one measure to contribute to reduce engine emission and the same time contribute to the improvement of air quality. With the introduce of low sulfur fuel, the effect of aromatics content i.e. composition become more important. From these aspect it is investigated the effect of mono and polyaromatics content in diesel fuel on diesel exhaust emission. Test results have shown that the diesel engine NOx emission and particulate emissions are depend on aromatics i.e. polyaromatics content in diesel fuel.
